Another quiet couple of weeks have passed on this blog, and I have already officially failed Project52. I guess I’ll have to go for as many weeks as possible. The interesting thing is that time seems to have just disappeared these last few weeks, but it doesn’t feel like I’ve done anything useful, at all. I did watch Skins though; the new season is off. It’s quite interesting.
Doesn’t look like much will happen soon either, mostly dull work followed by interesting parties and what I’d like to be serious studying. It rarely is, though. Meh.
Nyligen startades en inofficiell programmeringstävling på Sweclockers som går ut på att skriva ett program som genererar ASCII-baserade “bilder” utifrån faktiska bilder. Detta lät givetvis som en trevlig utmaning, och jag hade en idé.
Min idé gick ut på att använda den wavelet-transform som används i JPEG2000-formatet för att frilägga kanterna från bilden. En wavelet-transform ger bland annat skillnaden från pixel till pixel, och kan därmed ge en storlek på förändringen som man sedan kan använda för att förstärka kanterna i den slutgiltiga bilden. {continue reading}
Project52 is an interesting project to encourage bloggers to write meaningful entries, at least once a week. But, is this really a good idea? Will this serve as inspiration or just be another thing one “has to” do, thus contributing to stress and spurring tons of useless, not very thought through entries? We’ll see. I’ve signed up for now, but I doubt I’ll manage to actually do this.
Hate Driven Development is something I can really identify with.
Well, way back in 2007 cic and I were working on a bittorrent tracker made in PHP, and I announced the wpTracker project – evidently, this didn’t lead anywhere and the project has died completely, but I was thinking of reviving this kind of special project. If I can find the original files, that is.
Anyway, a new year is coming up and I hope to be a little more productive this year, I have a whole bunch of projects, both ones that I started, finished ones I need to polish up, but also a lot of ideas that never really make it all the way. I’ll try to find time to actually finish some of these projects this year. If I have time left, what with all the studying and such.
