For those of you who missed that creepy russian singer, or want to know more about him, thought skipper has an interesting post on the song, apparently called “I Am So Happy to Finally Be Back Home”.
Completely irrelevant

Chalmerister ockuperade Carlsbergs bryggeri.
Other issues that I can’t live with day to day? How do I copy text from non-editable field like an email, webpage, or SMS, or even a 3rd party application? Oh, I can’t. Say what you want about the iPhone not having copy and paste for two years — a joke — it’s the single best implementation on the planet for a smartphone and Google’s approach is almost as bad as RIM’s with the Storm-series. — Google Android Personal Thoughts
Say what you want, but Apple (as opposed to the rest of the industry) generally release things with well thought-out UIs, and though they may have their shortcomings, they probably do so for a reason. Seems an awful lot less witty to ridicule the iPhones former lack of copy/paste-functions now, eh?
Google Wave is all the rage right now and even though it’s still in beta and thus locked to Google’s own servers everyone seems excited about this new “open” protocol of information sharing. But what is its purpose?
It’s not really a “chat”, as it moves too slowly for that. But it’s not an email replacement either, because it’s not geared towards long messages and deep conversations the same way email is. It’s what many would call a “lag chat”, a slow-moving chat for sharing and coordinating information.
One thing I’ve already noticed this is good for is organizing events, at least events that aren’t very time-consuming or large. You could, for example, create a Wave to plan a movie night, use the appropriate gadget to poll for interest and then progress with announcing important bits of information. You could also coordinate the event with others, if you’re multiple organizers.
There are a few types of cooperation Wave isn’t suited for as well; one of them is code cooperation. Working with code in Wave is really bloody hard, and there are much better suited systems for doing this (SVN, Git, etc.) — trying to do it in Wave is just dumb.
Google Wave is clearly a nice innovation and can prove useful in some situations, but IMHO it’s severely over-hyped, just like most of Google’s recent stuff. Sadly, the internet has a crush on Google, and I can’t stop them.
Söndagen den 27:e september 2009. 05:30. Jag sover tungt efter en mycket lång fredagsnatt och kort lördag, försöker att ta igen sömnen jag missat. Plötsligt ringer telefonen. Det är en bekant som under lördagskvällen varit ute och festat på Chalmers. Min spontana tanke är “äh, fyllesamtal… orka”, varpå jag skickar en upptagetton, och somnar om. Samma sak händer ett par gånger till, men det slutar runt 06:00. Till slut får jag sova ordentligt. {continue reading}
Jolicloud looks pretty interesting. Too bad I don’t have a netbook.
