Vista rejected by U.S. Department of Transportation

According to Information week the U.S. DOT has banned Windows Vista, Office 2007 and Internet Explorer 7. This is why, according to the memo:

There appears to be no compelling technical or business case for upgrading to these new Microsoft software products. Furthermore, there appears to be specific reasons not to upgrade.
The “specific reasons not to upgrade” seems to be that much of the software they use is incompatible with Vista, as they have stated in another memo. Instead, they have decided to switch over to Suse Linux, and for a limited number of employees Apple’s OS X with Apple hardware when they move their headquarters later this year. The memo they published also indicates that this ban applies to the Federal Aviation Administration, which would add up to a total of sixty thousand computers. This might have a huge impact on Microsoft’s sales, since they sell millions of dollars in software to federal agencies every year.
