Completely irrelevant

The mystery of the non-desciptive link text

Also known as “click here“-links. My friend cic is doing some kind of experiment to see if “click here” links work better than descriptive links such as “Smart search function in firefox“. Great experiment and such, but there is one flaw: Maybe the first link wasn’t so interesting? Because you already know what’s there, and thus know if you are interested, you might not click the link. However if you have a simple “click here” link, curiosity will make you click the link, unless you have better stuff to do.

Anyway, this doesn’t justify using such links. Links should be descriptive, as this makes for better accessibility, meaning more users can use your web page. And that’s a good thing, right?
