Windows Vista is gettig really heavy. Too heavy. All those special effects and built-in firewalls and whatnots makes the system requirements far too high for anyone with an old XP-compuer. Microsoft’s new OS is getting so bloated that EU has threatened microsoft with a total ban from selling vista in Europe. They say that microsoft’s firewall and anti-virus, wich are included in Vista, will make Microsoft’s monopoly too big. Well, here’s news for you: It already is too big. It’s like IBM’s 360 OS, they fought in court against the government for almost two decades, and by the time they had won, their monopoly was long gone. I have a feeling the same thing will happen to Microsoft. Their approach on making Operatin Systems is totally wrong.
I mean, who wants a bloated OS full of functions and gadgets and whatnots that you’ll never actually use. And intergrating everything with everything is bad, too. If you find a security hole in one thing, anyone who knows how to use it can take over your entire computer, it doesn’t matter if it was the browser or something else. What I want to see in the future is more Linux-like Operating Systems. Stable, non-bloated, good-looking ones. Apple’s OS X is another example of a great OS, though it is a little bit more bloated than Linux, but hey, it looks better than Windows, and it’s less bloated. I would run Linux or OS X all the time if game developers had realised that Windows ain’t the future. The minute EA and Rockstar and all the other game companies start releasing all their new games on other platforms like Mac and Linux, I will switch. And that’s a promise.

I don’t think that the “Microsoft empire” will be all gone. I don’t think that the EU would ban Vista either. That would cripple the EU from advancinig to the future. The EU market isnt as big as the US market either. I would run Linux on all my pcs, but all the apps and games aren’t there. But once they do, I’ll switch too. BTW I know you from ST.
